Micah Killion thinks about music, and has played the trumpet in a handful of professional settings. He performs adequately on the trumpet and usually enjoys doing so with a variety of musicians in a variety of styles. He understands that there is value to a list of prior professional performance experience, and that value is kind of boring since it’s not like Micah is the Principal Trumpet of the New York Philharmonic or anything.
Micah is currently working as a PhD student and Assistant Instructor in Music and Human Learning with Dr. Bob Duke, Dr. Amy Simmons, and Dr. Laurie Scott at the University of Texas at Austin. This work involves thinking about learning a whole lot and Micah is humbled by his mentors, his peers, and his students at UT.
Micah is unspeakably grateful to his mentors: Joel Dunphy, Dr. Joyce Davis, Philip Smith, Brian McWhorter, Mark Gould, Laurie Frink, Mike Bosch, Karl Sweedy, and Dr. Judith Jellison.
